What We Do
The Basin Irrigation and Drainage Authority (BIDA) facilitates water deliveries and maintains flood control infrastructure to ensure landowners can continue their agricultural operations in the Sutter Basin.
Water Delivery
Delivering water to 70,000 acres of privately owned land across the Sutter Basin. Staff closely monitors and maintains water delivery structures, canals and gates to ensure water can flow to aggregated lands when needed during the spring and summer months.
Flood Protection
In addition to water delivery, BIDA management and staff provides drainage of irrigation water, maintains pumping sites and is responsible for flood protection along 55 miles of levees.
Long-term Viability
BIDA works with landowners and partnering agencies to ensure the long-term viability of Reclamation District 1500 and the Sutter Mutual Water Company.
Ensuring Efficiency
In 2019, RD1500 and Sutter Mutual Water Company formed a Joint Powers Authority in order to bring labor forces from both organizations under one umbrella.
